AVATAR BENDER BATTLES
"Avatar Bender Battles" imagines what would happen if two individuals from different generations in the Avatar Universe battled head to head. This idea came from the massive interest of fan-created videos, combined with the visual interpretation of animated storyboards, motion comics, and locker room whiteboards. The goal was to develop the idea through the eyes of a fan, so the low-color style of the fight sequences represent the "non-cannon" or "hypothetical" narrative. To achieve this, I traced stills from fight scenes in the two series; "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra". I combined these traced illustrations using Adobe Sketch and After Effects to create the illustrated animation.
